Vacancy Scientific Project Manager – Leiden


For a start-up company active in the diagnostic industry, we are looking for a Scientific Project Manager. This company develops innovative diagnostic systems that are able to detect diseases in the early stages. This increases the survival rates, improves healthcare, and reduces costs. They are currently working on several clinical studies spread out over locations in Asia, Europe and North-America. Additionally, this organisation is rolling out their own application into practice. Therefore, the organisation offers both a research and analysis platform.


As a Scientific Project Manager, you will be working closely together with the other (Senior) Scientific Project Managers on designing and managing the medical device. You will be thinking of new specifications for the device and the platform. Additionally, you will contribute to other research projects and developments within the organisation. Furthermore, you will be involved with tasks related to:

  • Helping with risk analyses, internal audits and descriptions in the technical documentation
  • Maintain relationships with clinical partners, research groups and other external partners
  • Supporting the writing of grant requests
  • Supporting the writing of blogs and white papers
  • Supporting the writing of scientific publications
  • Analysing data with several analysis software


The ideal candidate has the following profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific or technical area, such as Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering
  • Fluent in English, fluency in Dutch is a plus
  • Both software and hardware medical devices skills
  • Strong affinity with medical technology
  • Good scientific writing skills
  • Motivated by a dynamic start-up environment
  • Accurate and detail oriented
